And I also have to consider the “perks” that may compensate the factors that may cause me unhappiness. Out-of-town or out-of-the-country trips. Bonuses. Quarterly commissions. Hand-me-down stuff from bosses. Free lunch. Free ride. Gadgets. Network expansion thru clients. And flexible working hours above anything else. 

When you don’t think you’re happy, you probably aren’t. 

I don’t want to remain unhappy.

But I also don’t want to be ungrateful.

I’m not sure if I can still waste another two years to convince myself that I am happy with my work. But if I leave work now, where will I go? What will I do? I don’t want to throw more of my early twenties to the throes of foundation work. And I also don’t want to be a bum and a sucker of my parents’ and boyfriend’s hard-earned income.

This is what happens when you’re given a long holiday break. You have more time to ponder on things that really matter.

Before DJ and I had dinner yesterday, I chanced upon a pirated DVD in a tiangge at Brickroad. I was actually looking for a good DVD copy of Twilight but I just resorted to a VCD copy of it since I wanted to buy the 13-in-1 DVD to maximize my P65.00.  

Other movies in the DVD are Yes Man, Seven Pounds, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Transporter 3, Pride and Glory, Australia, Punisher 2, Gran Torino, Pulse 3, Quantum of Solace, Body of Lies, and Milk. Not bad for a 65-peso DVD eh? 

When I got home, I was able to convince Jonathan to watch Twilight so he’d understand why I so love it and why DJ so hate it. Hehe. But luck of all lucks, all the videos in that DVD are in “good” copy except for Twilight. So we just watched Seven Pounds since we learned from HBO that for this emotional drama movie, Will Smith reunites with the directors and producers of The Pursuit of Happyness–one of our fave movies.

I won’t give you a hint of what the movie is all about. I know you can always google or search Wikipedia for a more complete synopsis anyway. I am just so glad a less experienced actor like Robert Pattinson didn’t star the said film as originally planned last June 2006. I just don’t wanna have it another way.

A few minutes later, the frog says “OK, OK, if you kiss me, I’ll give you great sex for a week”. The engineer nods and puts the frog back in his pocket.

A few minutes later, “Turn me back into a princess and I’ll give you great sex for a whole year!”. The engineer smiles and walks on.

Finally, the frog says, “What’s wrong with you? I’ve promised you great sex for a year from a beautiful princess and you won’t even kiss a frog?”

“I’m a engineer,” he replies. “I don’t have time for sex…. But a talking frog is pretty neat.”

Case One
A friend of mine (who by the way just learned that she’s pregnant) has to sell her pre-loved EEE Asus laptop. She kinda needed money urgently so we bought it. It’s black though! (From my list, I indicated I wanted white.) But no biggie. I know DJ really prefers black over white-colored stuff. He’s gonna be the one using it anyway.

Case Two
When DJ and I were at Tiendesitas to attend a close family friend’s daughter’s christening, I managed to buy a pair of white socks at a discounted price from a Nike kiosk. Hehe. Fyi, I don’t like buying socks coz I believe that second to Starbucks coffee, socks are always friggin overpriced.

Case Three
DJ bought me Dunlop badminton rackets the other week. Got a bit upset when I saw the tag price of each racket… coz I was expecting cheap rackets for amateurs like me. I mean, you can buy 2 rackets for P500 only! But the ones DJ bought are P500+ each. After closer inspection, I realized that the rackets are really of good quality (thanks dear!). So I hope I could buy shuttlecocks soon for I need to get rid of my love handles ASAP!

Case Four
I also got myself a new phone for my other sim. Actually, what I originally wanted was to buy a cheap Nokia phone to pair with my ever so trusted N95 8gb. But since the price of a duo-sim phone is reasonable, I just bought a MyPhone B22 Duo for my Smart and Sun sims. Sulit!

Other stuff on my list are books and shirts. Stephenie Meyer’s and Haruki Murakami’s books can wait for next year coz I still have kilos of readings to finish over the Christmas break. Filipinized shirts are not my priority now coz I realized I needed more corporate togs for work.

You know, this is what happens when you make a simple wishlist. If you’re the type who gets motivated from achieving small wins, try to make a wishlist that you know you can achieve. Maybe someday, all of the big-ticket items that you plan to have are achieved thru a simple wishlist like this. We’ll never know.

Anybody knows where we can buy economical HP printer that works with both Mac and PC? Hehe.
